Houston high school welders partner with Northern Tool to weld gifts for wounded vets

Students from Houston’s Milby High School welding program, in partnership with national retailer Northern Tool + Equipment, donated class time and their skills to give thanks to local veterans by welding gifts. The welding effort was a component of Northern Tool + Equipment’s “Nurturing Trade + Excellence” program, a school outreach effort that is designed to support schools’ trade programs through donations and empower students to pursue a career in a skilled trade profession.

At the event, Milby High School students used tools and equipment donated by Northern Tool + Equipment to craft plaques and small hand tools for three veterans severely injured in the line of duty. Northern Tool partnered with local nonprofit Helping A Hero for the event.

As part of the program, Northern Tool donated equipment to the school, including a plasma cutter, cutting band saw, dry-cut metal saw, welding hoods and jackets for each student, and various tools. Each student also received a 5-gal. bucket filled with additional tools and coupons for use at Northern Tool stores.
