High-precision inspection/measuring system ensures part quality

Sharpe Products, New Berlin, Wis., a provider of custom pipe/tube bending and fabricating services, uses a Tube Inspect S optical tube measuring system to ensure part quality.

A tube is placed in a measuring optical cell where 16 high-resolution cameras measure its geometry in only a few seconds. The system can measure parts up to 4 ft. in one step, plus or minus 0.1mm.

The system links directly to the CNC bending machines and determines setup and correction data. If corrections need to be made to the part, the system transmits changes directly to the bending machine.

The system also enables reverse engineering and inspection of sample parts.
