Leaktight plugs retain fluid in pipes

Cob Industries supplies a line of lightweight inflatable stoppers for pipes up to 120 in. dia. to prevent the entry of debris into pipes. They are available in cylindrical format for straight pipes and spherical format for bent pipes.

For retaining fluid inside a pipe, plugs made of aluminum, steel, or rubber usually are used. If the fluid is aggressive, natural rubber seals can be replaced with nitrile, silicon, or Viton®. PetroChem™ inflatable stoppers, using a protective cover over the inflatable section, also are available for petrochemical applications.

For larger-diameter pipes, aluminum stoppers are manufactured up to 36 in. dia., and steel plugs up to 72 in. dia.
