The Terminator MILLHOG® welding end prep tool from Esco Tool is designed for use on pipe from 8.625 in. ID to 36 in. OD. It clamps rigidly to the ID and has a tracker to compensate for out-of-roundness. Capable of producing symmetrical end preps of any angle, including J preps, the tool can bevel, face, and bore simultaneously on all types of hard alloys and pulls a thick chip without cutting fluids, the company reports.
Available with a 5-HP pneumatic or hydraulic motor, the tool has only eight sets of clamps and two wedges. It uses TiN-coated formed cutter bits with chip breakers that direct heat away from the pipe surface.
