2022 Chicago Auto Show offers glimpse at new wave of mobility, thrill rides

Debuts and deja vus

Automakers introduced or showcased their electric vehicles at the Chicago Auto Show: VW ID.4, Toyota bZ4X, Hyundai IONIQ, Subaru Solterra, the Ford Mach E, Ford F-150 Lightning; GM Silverado EV and Nissan Ariya.

Auto OEMs brought their electric fleets to the Chicago Auto Show 2022, many of them making their debuts. The show was solidly electrified, with automakers introducing or showcasing their electric vehicles: the Ford Mach E, Ford F-150 Lightning; GM Silverado EV; VW ID.4; Subaru Solterra; Nissan Ariya; BMW i4; and Hyundai IONIQ.

To the surprise of many, Toyota, the no-contest leader in hybrid gas/electric vehicles with its Prius, is just now unveiling its battery electric 2023 bZ4X and Rhombus. Toyota offers a full array of electric offerings, though, in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, fuel cell electric, and battery electric vehicles.
