Electrified Chicago Auto Show to feature EVs front and center

EVs to light up North America’s largest auto show

Ford debuts its Transit EV at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show, which opens Saturday, Feb. 12.

GM Silverado EV, Ram 1500 BEV, Ford F-150 Lightening and Mustang Mach-E, the Nissan Ariya, and VW ID.4 take center stage at this year’s Chicago Auto Show, which opens tomorrow, Feb. 12, and runs through Feb. 21.

Attendees can view electric vehicle concepts, debuts, and production vehicles from nearly all automakers, including:

Ford

Ford will offer attendees first rides in the all-electric 1978 Ford F-100 Eluminator concept vehicle, all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and F-150 Lightning as part of the Built to Electrify experience on two new indoor test tracks to highlight its EV lineup, and its new the Bronco family of vehicles as well.

Stellantis

Stellantis will show off its electric vehicle lineup, including the all-electric 4xe and plug-in hybrid Wrangler 392.

Ram will showcase its concept vehicle and plans to deliver its Ram 1500 BEV electric pickup truck on the market in 2024. “Ram will deliver fully electrified solutions in the majority of its segments by 2025, and a full portfolio of electrified solutions for all of its segments no later than 2030,” the company stated.

GM

GM’s Chevrolet Silverado EV is an all-new, full-size electric truck engineered to seat up to five passengers—the first of its kind by GM. It is designed for 400 miles of range on two of its three trims Chevy promises up to 400 miles of range on two of its three trims—WT and RST, up to 664 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque. Maximum towing capacity is expected to be up to 10,000 pounds on RST trim. GM will also debut its 2022 Hummer EV.

Nissan

Making their Chicago debuts at the show are the all-new 2023 Nissan Ariya electric crossover and also the 2023 Nissan Z, featured in Nissan’s action-packed Super Bowl commercial, “Thrill Driver.” The Z will be available this spring, and the Ariya in the fall, the company says. All of the showcased vehicles are part of the company’s “Nissan NEXT” transformation.

Volkwagen

VW has already been producing its ID.4: The Volkswagen ID.4 2022 is equipped with an additional brake auto-hold feature, improved charging times and battery driving range—though that number has yet to be publicly revealed. 2021 models have an estimated range between 250 and 260 miles on a single charge. The electric ID.4 is seats 5 passengers and is only offered in the U.S. as a 4-door wagon.
