Marcegaglia UK adds high-frequency tube welding system
Marcegaglia UK recently installed a new EFD Induction 400-kW Weldac high-frequency tube welding system on the largest pipe mill at its UK Dudley plant. The plant produces about 77,000 tons of carbon steel welded tubes annually.
The single-cabinet machine, which replaced a valve welding machine, has increased mill speeds and resulted in considerable energy savings, the company reports. It has enabled the tube producer to make all sizes on the mill—from 1.4 to 3.5 in.—with no limitations.
