Nakata Mfg. to deliver two ODF tube production lines
Nakata Mfg. Co. Ltd. has received orders for two 24-in. orbital die forming (ODF) tube production lines, to be delivered in 2021 and 2022 to two of its customers in Asia.
One of the customers is investing in ODF technology to expand its product offering. Suited to making very thin-wall tubing, with diameter-to-wall-thickness ratios that exceed 100-to-1, this type of mill uses a revolving die system. The paired die sets, connected in series, circulate on two endless tracks to provide a very large forming radius. It works the material in a manner similar to press forming, using a large amount of contact area to minimize contact stresses.
