Unison automated bending cell bends six tubes simultaneously

Unison Ltd. has developed a fully automated bending cell capable of bending six tubes simultaneously with diameters from ½ to 2 in. and bend angles from 11.5 to 90 degrees. The cell also labels the tubes and packs them into boxes at a rate of 980 tubes per hour.

It comprises a bending machine, three robots, a label printer, and a box-packing machine. Tubes are loaded from a cart onto a conveyor and pushed into the bending machine. Robot 1 picks up the bent tubes and places them onto an indexing table. Here they are labeled and given to robots 2 and 3, which pack the tubes into boxes to be taped shut. The end product is a sealed box of metal conduit tubes bent to the desired angle and ready for delivery.
