HGG UPC 450 Ship Profiler automates cutting in small footprint

HGG’S new UPC 450 Ship Profiler helps increase cutting and prefabrication productivity by eliminating the need to cut ship stiffeners and spools by hand. Production automation combines ship stiffener cutting and 3-D profile cutting with optional tube cutting. Its small footprint helps save floor space.

The machine offers full process cutting integration through the ProCAM software suite, integrating thermal cutting ProCAD design, ProGRAM work preparation coordination, and 3-D plasma cutting intelligence. It delivers precision stiffener and tubular spool cutting that reduces fitting and welding time, the company states.

The machine cuts ship stiffener profiles from flat bars, bulbs, and angles, as well as cutting spools from tubular pipes. The cutting cell includes a cutting trolley that controls all movement and a patented cutting head and biaxial cutting torch. Two fume-extraction modules capture and dispose of plasma dust, smoke, and fumes.
