HGG’s SPC 1200 RB pipe cutting/3-D profiling machine offers automated pipe handling

HGG’S new SPC 1200 RB pipe cutting and 3-D profiling machine combines the logistics of an automated roller bed for moving pipes in and out, while incorporating a floating chuck for pipe cutting accuracy, precision, and repeatability, the company reports.

The machine accommodates pipe from 3 to 48 in. dia., 20 to 40 ft. long, and with wall-cutting accuracy up to 6 in. thick. It combines two types of pipe cutting with infeed and outfeed conveyors, eliminating the need for cranes to move individual pipes in and out. The integrated chuck helps provide users with accurate, on-the-fly measurement and compensation of longitudinal pipe movement (creep) during rotation of the pipe, along with repeatability.

The machine is equipped with patented biaxial cutting heads that can be used to cut with oxyfuel and plasma. It can be configured to multiple layout combinations, allowing users to fit the machine to a variety of floor space requirements and logistical flow. Fume extraction is built-in; when connected to a proper dust collector, the machine draws most fumes out and keeps the shop nearly smoke-free.
