Induction preheater helps save energy in wind tower assembly

Pemamek has introduced the Pema Skycoil, an induction preheater designed for offshore wind foundations and tower manufacturing. Developed in collaboration with global green tech company ENRX, it has a curve-shaped design making it suitable for heavy tubular workpieces with diameters of up to 49 ft.
Designed to heat materials up to 6.3 in. thick, the preheater’s induction heating technology could save up to 188 MWh compared to natural gas in the assembly of a single wind tower monopile, says the manufacturer.
