Mother tube calculator made for tube producers, product designers
JMC Rollmasters Div. of Johnston Mfg. Co. Inc. has developed and published the Amazing Mother Tube Calculator™ for tube and pipe producers and product designers. The online calculator uses mathematical algorithms incorporating gauge thickness and bend ratio data to estimate girth changes caused by bending deformation and compression.
The initial release of this calculator outputs dimensional data as well as the estimated round or “mother tube” required to produce square, rectangular, flat-sided, and four-arc elliptical ovals. To assist product designers, the calculator can solve four-arc elliptical ovals when only three of four variables are known, and flag texts prevent unusable data entry. Custom dialog text windows can be opened to explain key features and functions.
