Schuler introduces Pipe ID 4.0 real-time process control system for making large pipes

Schuler has developed Pipe ID 4.0, a comprehensive, real-time process control system for manufacturing large pipes. It features a track-and-trace system, OEE monitoring, condition monitoring, smart diagnostics, and power monitoring.

Product data acquisition is particularly important when inspecting large, high-grade steel pipes (X100) in accordance with the API 5L standard regarding dimension or welding quality by means of ultrasonics, hydrostatic testing, and X-rays. The company has upgraded the analog X-ray system to a digital version, so it can be integrated into Pipe ID 4.0. It includes a server station that stores the results of these tests, as well as all other machine parameters.

With network label printers or paint marking and bar code scanners, all the pipes in the plant can be traced and tracked and their tolerances ensured.
