On April 13, the Chrysler Group announced that Simon Boag has been named vice president of assembly and stamping operations, replacing P. Craig Corrington, who is retiring after 32 years. Boag is responsible for all Chrysler Group vehicle assembly and stamping operations in the U.S. and Canada.
Boag has served in various manufacturing management positions since 1988 and is an 11-year veteran of General Motors. In his most recent assignment, he was president and managing director for General Motors Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Before that, he served as president of CAMI Automotive Incorporated, a General Motors/Suzuki joint venture, where he was responsible for all aspects of the joint venture including manufacturing. Boag also has prior experience with Ford Motor Co.
Boag has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science degree in management from Stanford University, where he graduated as a Sloan Fellow.
Corrington was appointed vice president of assembly and Stamping operations in March 2004, where he was responsible for all vehicle assembly and stamping operations. Prior to that appointment, he held various positions in the powertrain and stamping manufacturing operations. He joined the company in 1973 as a management trainee.
