FerrouSouth installs preflattener for heavy-gauge, wide material

Independent toll processor FerrouSouth, Iuka, Miss., has announced the start-up of a new three-roll, coil-set, crossbow preflattener at the front end of The Eliminator — the company’s heavy-gauge stretcher leveling line. The company collaborated with Herr-Voss Stamco, Chesterton, Ind., to co-develop, engineer, and manufacture the machine.

With the preflattener in place, the company can process 110,000-yield steel up to 0.5 by 96 in., providing flat, memory-free steel sheets. According to the company, this capability is unique to FerrouSouth.
