SAF installs cut-to-length aluminum coil processing line

SAF (Southern Aluminum Finishing Co.) has installed a cut-to-length aluminum coil processing line in its SAF-West, Redding, Calif., plant. The heart of the line is a Herr-Voss 6-high corrective leveler to enhance processing of nonferrous coil for surface-critical sheet with the flatness important for architectural building applications.

The line can handle 0.024- to 0.125-in.-thick aluminum coils up to 60 in. wide, 18 to 22 in. ID, at 100 FPM. Newly renovated electronic controls for both the leveler and the flying shear enable precise, reliable production, and the inline slitting head and flying shear minimize processing time, the company says. The leveler’s rollers allow the firm to meet surface-critical requirements for painted and anodized aluminum coil processing.
