Manzullo: Spending plan will help small businesses

House Small Business Committee Chairman Don Manzullo (R-IL) said the President's proposed budget for the coming year sets forth a sound plan to help small employers continue to grow and create jobs for U.S. workers.

During a full committee hearing on February 10, Manzullo said he supports the FY 2006 budget proposal and endorses its priorities of making tax cuts permanent, reducing the surging cost of health insurance, and fighting burdensome regulations, which stunt economic opportunities and job growth in the U.S.

Manzullo expressed general approval for the President's budget request for the SBA with a few exceptions, most notably the Administration's lack of support for the Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) participating securities program. Manzullo acknowledges the program has structural problems, but believes it can be salvaged.
