In recognition of operating a successful family-owned business in Connecticut for more than 40 years, United Steel Inc., East Hartford, Conn., has been named the winner of the Hartford Business Journal’s 2015 Family Business Award in the category of 76 to 199 full-time employees.

The company, a fabricator and erector of structural steel and miscellaneous metals, was founded in 1974 by Ken Corneau. Today, in addition to the six relatives who work at the firm, two of the three original employees are still with the company, and more than a third of the 183 employees have been there for more than a decade.
