Fiber laser equipped with automation

The LCG 3015 AJ from Amada is a high-speed, high-precision, 2-kW fiber laser cutting system that uses about one-third of the electricity required by a CO2 laser system of the same wattage, the company reports.
The flying-optic laser system cuts brass, copper, and titanium. The material remains stationary as the cutting head moves on all three axes to process the sheet, helping to increase accuracy at higher cutting speeds. The cutting head is propelled by a dynamic motion system that achieves the acceleration and rapid traverse speeds of linear-drive motion systems, according to the manufacturer.
The machine does not require laser gas or mirrors. A full enclosure surrounds the entire cutting area and offers access for part removal. The X and Y axes use a helical rack-and-pinion drive system, while the Z axis is equipped with a high-precision ball screw. Features include a sectionalized dust-collection system; an AMNC/PC touchscreen control with intuitive graphic display; a lens and nozzle that can be installed without tools, wires, or air lines; and a variety of modular automation options.
