Laser tube cutting machines do more than cut a dazzling variety of features and combine processes. They also eliminate material handlings and storage of semifinished parts, making a shop run more efficiently. However, this isn’t the end of it. Maximizing return on investment means carefully analyzing the shop’s operations, reviewing all the available machine features and options, and specifying a machine accordingly.

After winning a bid to refurbish a mobile launch tower to support NASA’s Orion project, contractor J.P. Donovan had to find an efficient way to make hundreds of reliable welds for the numerous piping systems in the tower. It invested in a power supply and two heads made by Otto Arc, favored for their smooth automatic voltage control and oscillating motion.

After two lifelong friends joined forces and opened a custom auto shop, they learned what every other hot rodder learns: designing and making sheet metal assemblies is really straightforward compared to designing and making a good set of headers. Eventually they discovered header modeling system that makes designing tubular assemblies a cinch.
