Industry 4.0, digitization, networks, industrial internet of things, and connectivity—these are still somewhat new, but they already are staking out an important place in U.S. industry. Adopting these technologies isn’t inexpensive, but in the 1980s Congress realized that U.S. businesses could use some help and it enacted the R&D Tax Credit to help offset the costs of such investments.
Specifying tube bender tooling to prevent misalignments, improve bend quality

A longstanding problem in tube bender tooling setup is tooling misalignment, which leads to scrapped tube (wasted material) and requires additional setup time to align the tooling (wasted time). Interlock tooling takes advantage of the bend die’s interlock opening, integrating the various tooling elements and keeping them aligned.

Plating tube or pipe is a technical process, but not necessarily a technical challenge. Successful plating hinges more on planning and logistics than the plating process itself. Developing a detailed plan and working out all of the logistics ahead of time are matters of communication between fabricator and plater, which is the basis for successful plating.
