Femtosecond laser pulses produce micron-scale features

The new Rapid FX from Coherent Inc. is a femtosecond laser for high-precision micromachining. The solid-state laser delivers 900-fs pulse widths, with a pulse energy of up to 100 µJ, at a repetition rate of 100 kHz (with optional operation at up to 200 kHz).

With its beam quality (M²<1.4) and pulse-on-demand operation, the laser’s femtosecond pulses enable the production of micron-scale features, with almost no HAZ and no decrease in processing speed.
